Teenage Driving Tips

There are some scary stats out there when it comes to teen driving, so, as a parent, we're sure you want to do all that you can to help keep your teenager safe. Aside from purchasing a safe, affordable vehicle for your teen to drive, there are some tips to help keep them out of harms way while driving.

These tips include:

  • Practice defensive driving. Make sure your teen knows to be aware of their surroundings at all times. That means check in font, behind, and on the sides of the vehicle. Also, their car should be a least one car length behind the car in front of them.
  • Don't text and drive. If having the phone visible is too tempting, have them place it in the glove box. Distracted driving is the leading cause of accidents.
  • Know the route they're traveling. It helps to go over or do a practice run of the route your teen will be traveling.
  • Buckle up. Wearing a seat belt significantly lowers the risk of serious injury in an accident. So make sure your teen and their passengers always wear their seat belt.
