There are things every driver should know how to do to their car that aren't taught in driver's ed. In an emergency situation it's best to know how to quickly get your car back in a condition to drive, if possible. These things include:

  • How to change a flat tire. This is one of the things that if you haven't learned, you need to. You will so happy you did when you unexpectedly get a flat tire or have a blowout while driving.
  • How to check your oil. Oil is the lifeblood of your engine. There needs to be enough clean oil for your engine to run efficiently. You should check your oil at least once a month.
  • How to jump start a car. Car batteries have a lifespan of about six years. When the day comes for your battery die, you want to be prepared. Knowing how to jump start your car can get you out of a sticky situation.
